AP 2-D Art and Design
← Back to AP PreparationCourse scope
AP 2-D Art and Design aims to develop visual ideas through photography, graphic design, illustration, painting and similar two-dimensional work.
Exam and assessment structure
Assessment is through a digital portfolio rather than a written exam. Sustained Investigation, which shows the research and making process, makes up 60% of the portfolio and Selected Works 40%. The first section includes 15 digital images with written descriptions, and the second the images of five works with related descriptions. All three portfolio components must be submitted in final form by 7 May 2027 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Making the process of experimenting, developing and revising visible carries significant weight in the assessment.
Preparation at Youprep Studio
In this course we start preparation by assessing the student’s prior knowledge and needs. We carry out topic work together with the relevant question and assessment types, and develop the student’s ability to apply knowledge and justify answers. We track progress with practice suited to the course structure and regular review, and update the study plan for the target exam session.
