AP Biology

Course scope

AP Biology examines the structure and function of living things through cells, heredity, energy transformations, evolution and ecology. The course develops skills in designing experiments, interpreting graphs and data, and supporting scientific explanations with evidence.

Exam and assessment structure

The exam on 3 May 2027 lasts 3 hours. The first section has 60 multiple-choice questions and the second has 6 free-response questions (2 long and 4 short); each section is 50% of the total score. The exam is hybrid digital: multiple-choice answers are entered in Bluebook, free-response questions are shown on screen and answers are written on paper.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this course we start preparation by assessing the student’s prior knowledge and needs. We carry out topic work together with the relevant question and assessment types, and develop the student’s ability to apply knowledge and justify answers. We track progress with practice suited to the course structure and regular review, and update the study plan for the target exam session.
