AP Calculus BC

← Back to AP Preparation

Course scope

AP Calculus BC extends the Calculus AB content to include parametric and polar representations, vector-valued functions, and infinite sequences and series. The course builds the ability to apply derivatives and integrals to more complex mathematical problems.

Exam and assessment structure

The exam on 10 May 2027 lasts 3 hours 10 minutes and consists of 42 multiple-choice and 6 free-response questions, with the two sections weighted equally. There are parts where a calculator is permitted and parts where it is not. The exam is hybrid digital; free-response solutions are written on paper. It cannot be taken in the same year as Calculus AB, and a strong foundation in functions, algebra and trigonometry is important.
