AP Computer Science Principles
← Back to AP PreparationCourse scope
AP Computer Science Principles introduces the core ideas of computer science through programming, data, algorithms, computing systems and the societal impact of technology.
Exam and assessment structure
Assessment covers both the Create performance task developed during the year and the end-of-course digital exam. The 3-hour exam on 14 May 2027 has 70 multiple-choice questions and two written-response questions about the student’s own program. The multiple-choice section is worth 70% and the Create task 30%. The program code, video and personalised project reference must be submitted by 30 April 2027 at 11:59 p.m. ET. This way the student shows not only conceptual knowledge but also the ability to explain the solution they developed.
Preparation at Youprep Studio
In this course we start preparation by assessing the student’s prior knowledge and needs. We carry out topic work together with the relevant question and assessment types, and develop the student’s ability to apply knowledge and justify answers. We track progress with practice suited to the course structure and regular review, and update the study plan for the target exam session.
