IB Computer Science SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Computer Science brings together computer systems, computational thinking and problem solving through programming.

Exam and assessment structure

In the curriculum first assessed in 2027, students may use Java or Python. At both SL and HL, Paper 1 assesses computer science concepts and a case study, and Paper 2 computational thinking and programming skills; content deepens at HL. In addition, the student develops a computational solution for a real-life problem of their choice. This internal assessment is worth 30% at SL and 20% at HL. The subject covers not only writing code but also planning, testing and improving the solution.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
