IB Dance SL ve HL

Course scope

IB Dance approaches dance through choreography, performance and cultural research. Students get to know different dance traditions, create their own work and develop expression through movement.

Exam and assessment structure

The assessment model valid in 2027 consists of original choreographies and their analysis, a written investigation comparing dance forms from different cultures, and performance recordings. There is no written final exam; at HL the scope and depth of the work increase. The subject values research, explaining creative decisions and reflecting on performance as much as physical practice. The requirements of the new curriculum first assessed in 2029 should not be confused with the 2027 session.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
