IB Digital Society SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Digital Society examines the effects of data, algorithms, artificial intelligence, networks and digital media on people and societies. It covers how technology works as well as how it relates to concepts such as ethics, power, identity and change.

Exam and assessment structure

SL has Paper 1 and the source-based Paper 2; HL adds Paper 3, which focuses on a challenge and an intervention within a pre-released framework. The student also prepares a project investigating the impacts of a digital system of their choice, completed with a multimedia presentation. This work is worth 30% at SL and 20% at HL. The subject builds the ability to evaluate digital developments critically and with evidence.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
