IB Economics SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Economics examines how individuals, firms and governments make decisions with limited resources through microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy. Students apply economic models to real-world events and evaluate the effects of policies on efficiency, equity and sustainability.

Exam and assessment structure

There are two written exams at SL and three at HL. At both levels, students prepare a portfolio of three economic commentaries based on news sources. This internal assessment connects theory with current events. The focus of the subject is not just learning definitions and graphs but explaining the reasons for and likely consequences of economic decisions coherently.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
