IB Global Politics SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Global Politics examines political concepts such as power, rights, development and peace through local, national and global examples. In the current program, students compare sources, evaluate different perspectives and support their political claims with evidence.

Exam and assessment structure

SL has the source-based Paper 1 and the extended-response Paper 2; HL adds Paper 3, which explores global political issues in depth. The engagement project, in which the student researches a political issue through direct engagement, is also assessed. The project is worth 30% at SL and 20% at HL. The subject connects abstract political ideas to real-life experience and research.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
