IB History SL ve HL
← Back to IB PreparationCourse scope
IB History develops historical thinking and evidence-based writing by examining the past through different perspectives and sources. Students build links of cause, consequence, continuity and change, and study world history topics chosen by the school comparatively.
Exam and assessment structure
In the structure valid for 2027, SL students sit the source-based Paper 1 and Paper 2 with world history essays; HL adds Paper 3, based on an in-depth regional study. At both levels there is an independent historical investigation. The new program first assessed in 2028 is different; preparation should use the curriculum that matches the student’s graduation and exam year.
Preparation at Youprep Studio
In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.
