IB Language A: Language and Literature SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Language A: Language and Literature examines the relationship between language, purpose and audience in literary works as well as advertisements, news, speeches and other non-literary texts.

Exam and assessment structure

At SL and HL, Paper 1 involves analysing unseen non-literary texts, and Paper 2 a comparative essay on the literary works studied. The individual oral connects a literary work with a body of non-literary work. HL students also prepare a written essay of 1,200–1,500 words. The subject enables students to read different forms of communication critically and explain how texts create meaning within cultural context.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information
