IB Language A: Literature SL ve HL
← Back to IB PreparationCourse scope
IB Language A: Literature enables students to read, interpret and compare literary works critically in their strongest language; Turkish A Literature and English A Literature are examples of language options for this course type.
Exam and assessment structure
At SL and HL, Paper 1 is based on analysing an unseen literary text and Paper 2 on a comparative essay on the works studied. There is also an individual oral assessment on the works; HL students additionally prepare an analytical essay of 1,200–1,500 words. Beyond summarising content, the subject develops the ability to explain with textual evidence how the writer’s choices of language, structure and narration create meaning.
Preparation at Youprep Studio
In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.
