IB Latin SL ve HL
← Back to IB PreparationCourse scope
IB Latin studies the language, literature and culture of ancient Rome through Latin texts.
Exam and assessment structure
At SL and HL, Paper 1 assesses comprehension and translation of unseen texts and Paper 2 the interpretation of the core works studied. Students also prepare a research dossier on classical language, literature or culture; at HL there is also an original Latin composition supported by explanatory rationale. The subject combines knowledge of vocabulary and grammar with close reading, source research and cultural interpretation. At HL the range of texts and the expected depth of analysis increase.
Preparation at Youprep Studio
In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.
