IB Music SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Music aims for students to grow as researchers, creators and performers; it combines listening to, analysing, creating and performing music from different cultures and contexts.

Exam and assessment structure

Instead of a written final exam, assessment consists of a portfolio exploring music in context, work documenting creating and performing experiments, and presentations of finished pieces and performances. At HL there is also a collaborative project based on contemporary music-making and a multimedia presentation. This structure assesses not only performance skills but also how the student explains their musical choices through research and critical thinking; the submission plan follows the school calendar.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
