IB Philosophy SL ve HL
← Back to IB PreparationCourse scope
IB Philosophy strengthens the ability to think systematically about fundamental questions such as being human, knowledge, ethics and freedom, and to develop reasoned views. Students read philosophical texts closely and evaluate alternative views.
Exam and assessment structure
SL has Paper 1, with essays on themes, and Paper 2, based on a prescribed philosophical text; HL adds Paper 3, which evaluates an unseen text on contemporary issues. At both levels an independent philosophical analysis is prepared on a non-philosophical stimulus such as a film scene, poem or image. Beyond learning thinkers’ views, the subject aims for students to build their own arguments clearly and coherently.
Preparation at Youprep Studio
In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.
