IB Physics SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Physics explains physical phenomena with mathematical models built on core concepts such as force, energy and particles. Students use theoretical knowledge together with experiments, data analysis and model evaluation; HL requires broader and deeper study.

Exam and assessment structure

At SL and HL, Paper 1 contains multiple-choice and data-based questions and Paper 2 short and extended responses. These external exams make up 80% of the total grade, while the independent scientific investigation report is worth 20%. Besides calculation skills, the subject develops the ability to understand physical assumptions, draw conclusions from graphs and justify research findings.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
