IB Visual Arts SL ve HL

← Back to IB Preparation

Course scope

IB Visual Arts enables students to develop a personal visual language with different materials and techniques and to ground their artistic decisions in research.

Exam and assessment structure

In the program first assessed in 2027 there is no written final exam. At both SL and HL an art-making inquiries portfolio is prepared; the second external assessment takes the form of a connections study at SL and an artist project at HL. For the internal assessment, a body of work of five completed pieces is presented. External assessments total 60% and the internal work 40%. The student’s technical development, research process and the relationship of their work to its context are assessed together.

Preparation at Youprep Studio

In this subject we work according to the student’s SL or HL level, exam year and the program followed at school. We close topic gaps and work on using knowledge in the relevant assessment formats and justifying answers. We set study priorities with the school’s exam and submission calendar in mind, and organise review and practice around the student’s progress.

Current exam information

May and November sessions; exact days and times are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.
