IB Preparation

We offer support in IB courses matched to the subjects each student takes and to their SL or HL level. We plan topic work together with exam preparation and the academic calendar during the year, helping the student progress steadily.

What is the IB Diploma Programme

The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year program that aims to build academic depth across different fields and to develop research, critical thinking and independent study skills. Alongside six subject groups it includes Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Subjects are offered at Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL). Depending on the subject, assessment can include written exams, internal assessments, oral assessments or portfolios.

IB preparation at Youprep Studio

We build the study plan by reviewing the student’s subjects, levels and the curriculum followed at school. While closing topic gaps, we cover how knowledge is used in questions and how answers can be developed to meet the assessment criteria. We organise the work around the student’s needs, keeping a balance between school exams, final exams and submission deadlines.

Support matched to SL and HL

The scope, depth and assessment expectations of the same subject can differ between SL and HL. That is why we teach each subject with content suited to the level the student is registered for and their exam year. In mathematics we also take into account the difference between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, and choose topic and question work according to the student’s program.

Research and academic skills

In work that requires research, we help students learn how to narrow down a question, evaluate suitable sources and justify their findings. Our starting point is that the student develops their own thinking and produces their work independently. The school’s supervision process and assessment rules form the basis of the study plan.

IB core components

Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS are the compulsory core components of the Diploma Programme. CAS is run under the coordination of the school.

IB exam sessions and subject levels

The IB’s two exam sessions are called May and November; exams can begin in the last days of the preceding month according to the relevant calendar. Written exams for the subjects below take place according to the subject- and level-based schedule of the session the school is registered for. Each paper may be a separate sitting. The school sets the deadlines for projects, orals and portfolios; some arts subjects and core components do not include a written final exam. Exact days, times and the submission plan are confirmed with the school’s IB coordinator.

This section is based on the 2027 assessments. For Computer Science, Design Technology, Psychology and Visual Arts, the new curricula first assessed in 2027 are used. Changes coming into effect in 2028 and 2029 should not be confused with the current 2027 exam structure. The IB language headings below describe course types; which type and level Turkish, English and other language options are offered at in a school is determined separately.

School-based and pilot subjects

In addition to the main IB subject catalogue, there are school-based syllabuses and pilot subjects that can only be offered in approved schools. Turkey in the 20th Century is one of these school-based options. The content and assessment details of these subjects should be taken from the relevant school’s approved subject guide; they should not be assumed to be as widely available as the main IB subjects.
